Upcoming CDs

Songs of Oswald von Wolkenstein

Andreas Scholl says, 'This is music composed by a knight who lived at the end of the Middle Ages - historically a very interesting time. He was an interesting person in that he, himself, composed music and paid out a fortune to have a monk handwrite his songs in order to keep his music alive. What is so unusual is that he was a nobleman composing music; it was usual for lower class musicians to entertain noblemen. Oswald played and sang for his friends, who were nobles, knights and kings.
- Recording scheduled for June 2009

Andreas Scholl to launch his own label?

Andreas Scholl will return to live in his native village of Kiedrich, in Germany's Rhineland, in October 2007. He is leaving Basel after almost 20 years as student and teacher at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, although he will continue to teach there for a few weeks every year.

Andreas Scholl is building a state of the art recording studio in Kiedrich and his long term plans include the launch of his own label.

Maybe this means we can hope for a recording of the Rosano Stabat Mater sooner rather than later? Whisper - it's getting closer...

UK Singer of the Year 2006

Andreas Scholl was awarded the accolade at the British recording industry's annual awards, beating all comers in all voice types. The citation was for the record-breaking sales figures for his Arias for Senesino CD, which was the only classical CD in the 2005 Top 100 chart (including all the pop genres) and entered the classical charts at Number 1 in its week of release.
