| Upcoming CDs Songs of Oswald von Wolkenstein Andreas Scholl says, 'This is music composed by a knight who
lived at the end of the Middle Ages - historically a very interesting
time. He was an interesting person in that he, himself, composed music
and paid out a fortune to have a monk handwrite his songs in order to
keep his music alive. What is so unusual is that he was a nobleman
composing music; it was usual for lower class musicians to entertain
noblemen. Oswald played and sang for his friends, who were nobles,
knights and kings.

Andreas
Scholl to launch his own label?
Andreas Scholl will
return to live in his native village of
Kiedrich, in Germany's Rhineland, in October 2007. He is leaving Basel after
almost 20 years as student and teacher at the Schola Cantorum
Basiliensis, although he will continue to teach there for a few weeks
every year.
Andreas Scholl is
building a state of the art recording studio in
Kiedrich and his long term plans include the launch of his own label.
Maybe this means we
can hope for a recording of the Rosano Stabat
Mater sooner rather than later? Whisper -
it's getting closer...
