Andreas Scholl to launch his own label?

Andreas Scholl will return to live in his native village of Kiedrich, in Germany's Rhineland, in October 2007. He is leaving Basel after almost 20 years as student and teacher at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, although he will continue to teach there for a few weeks every year.

Andreas Scholl is building a state of the art recording studio in Kiedrich and his long term plans include the launch of his own label.

Maybe this means we can hope for a recording of the Rosano Stabat Mater sooner rather than later? Whisper - it's getting closer...

Harmonia Mundi: box set of Andreas Scholl CDs

Harmonia Mundi offers a box set of great Andreas Scholl CDs.

Three CDs comprise The Essential Andreas Scholl

Vivaldi: Stabat mater
English Folksongs & Lute Songs
Handel: Ombra mai fu

All three are favourites with Scholl devotees and this set makes a great introduction to the voice of the great countertenor.

UK Singer of the Year 2006

Andreas Scholl was awarded the accolade at the British recording industry's annual awards, beating all comers in all voice types.
