| And finally, and not entirely seriously... Andreas Scholl
sang the Habanera from
Bizet's Carmen on the spoof
CD
The Countertenors. Some
people who shall remain forever nameless have said they would love to
hear him sing it concert. As a jolly encore, perhaps. Others are
horrified at the very idea. What do you think? Click here to tell us!

Andreas
Scholl’s extraordinary voice has brought many people to so-called
'early
music' for the first time. His core repertoire is music of the
late
Renaissance and, more especially, of the Baroque: roughly 1600 to
1750.
The range of composers whose work he has recorded is wide and if you
don’t
know what to buy next, this list may help. The 'Listen' score is
merely our opinion, offered to those not very familiar with the Baroque
alto repertoire. Listen-1 means 'newcomers usually like this at
first
hearing'. Listen-5 means 'perhaps a bit more obscure but you'll
be
glad you stuck with it'.
